Bomber County Produce has been growing leeks at Willow Farm since 1991 and asparagus since 2010, growing alongside more traditional arable crops such as wheat, barley, oil seed rape and sugar beet.
With four generations currently living and/or working on the farm, this is very much a small family based enterprise. Each generation has brought to the business new skills and experience with younger generations enbracing new technology and growing techniques.
Both leeks and asparagus are seasonal British vegetables, with leeks being a very versatile vegetable and asparagus a delicious treat to enjoy during the short british aspagaus season. They grow very well on the good quality silt soils of the farm and seemed an obvious choice for a business looking to diversify into different crops to grow and market to customers. The sandy, well drained soils give a distinctive taste to our Asparagus and help us to grow a good quality, uniform and delicious leek.
